PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Hello Everyone,

This last month has certainly flown by. Our last meeting was very well attended and we were able to get a lot of work done on upcoming events. See Barbs Meeting Minutes in this newsletter for a complete recap.

Prior to the meeting, myself, Jim & Jeannie Lent, Al Harris and John & Bea Phillips met with Mark Kane at Marina Pontiac to do some planning for Wangers 3. Should be a perfect location for the event. Mark your calendars for May 2nd and 3rd. Lots of details coming at this next meeting on March 5th at Harry’s in Redwood City. Please plan to attend. Jim Wangers 66 GTO, the GeeTo Tiger, is going to be at this event. In addition, Mark Kane is working hard on having a pre production 04 GTO on hand as well. Member Marv Cooper’s Down Home BBQ will be handling lunch for us. All you can eat for 10 bucks. Maybe Marv will be able to attend the next meeting and give us full details.

Wayne Barnes is working feverishly to put together our club Karting event. The track in Santa Clara will give us more bang for the buck so we are planning to have it there. We are looking at April 5th for this event with a starting time of 11 a.m. Gonna set you back $100 to do it right, not the $75 we previously thought. Once we have a CONFIRMED DATE we will send out an email and also talk it up at the next meeting. NON-CANCELABLE RESERVATIONS will be required. If you cannot go, you will be out the $$$$$$$. Wayne assures us that it will be a blast.

Coming up soon is our March 15th event at the Winchester Mystery House. Full info in this newsletter and Russ will talk it up at this meeting. Looks like a fun time with a lot of flexibility for you. Rain or shine event, just show up and have a great time. The Mansion, Gardens, Gun Museum and….nearby shopping. WIN WIN for everyone, just doesn’t get any better than that.

The weekend after that is the first GGuys show of the year in Pleasanton. Rumor has it that Blair Locke is going to have the ‘66 he has been working on night and day at this show. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

April 12th has us up in the wine country for the Stipanov’s Steppin Out Wine Cruise. Am sure that Mark and Deidre will have an update for us at this meeting.

Dano Savino will be updating us on July’s Warm Summer Daze event at the Petaluma Fairgrounds. Dano says it is o.k. to have our club swap meet at that event so we can discuss that a bit as well.

Treasurer Al Harris can give us an update on how we are coming with renewals. We will be an affiliated GTOAA Chapter for 2003. We made the number with a little bit to spare. I would like to thank Jim Lent for taking the time to put the data together and giving to me as a finished product. Made it very easy for me and I appreciate that a great deal. Jim has received the sample GGG Logo license plate frame and our order has been placed. They look FANTASTIC. Jim will have full details at this meeting. Please plan on attending this meeting as we have a lot of good stuff to talk about that we will be doing this year.

See ya in the fast lane

John

UPCOMING EVENTS

Winchester Mystery House Tour

In 1884, a wealthy widow named Sarah Winchester began a construction project of such magnitude that it was to occupy the lives of carpenters and craftsmen until her death thirty-eight years later. The Victorian mansion, designed and built by the Winchester Rifle heiress, is filled with so many unexplained oddities, that it has come to be known as:

The Winchester Mystery House

Join us as the Golden Gate Goats go on specially arranged tours of the mansion and estate. Saturday, March 15, 2003! This is a rain or shine event!

Parking -- FREE

We will have our own exclusive parking area right up front just for our club. You can park there as long as you wish, depart when you want and there is no charge.

Take the Mansion Tour at 11 AM -- $12 per person (a $17.95 value)

Take this one hour tour through 110 of the 160 rooms and look for the bizarre phenomena that gave the mansion its name; a window built into the floor, staircases leading to nowhere, doors that open onto blank walls, and upside down posts! From exquisite hand inlaid parquet floors to the gold and silver chandeliers and Tiffany art glass windows, you will be impressed by the staggering amount of creativity, energy, and expense poured into each and every detail. Unfortunately the Mansion Tour is NOT accessible to wheel chairs or infant strollers.

Or take the Behind The Scenes Tour at 12:15 PM -- $11 per person (a $14.95 value)

The Behind-the-Scenes Tour is a one hour guided tour taking you into areas that had been unexplored for over 75 years. Learn how Mrs. Winchester's 160-acre estate functioned. You will go into the stables, dehydrator, plumber's workshop, the unfinished ballroom, and one of the two basements. Safety hats will be worn on the tour. The Behind-the-Scenes Tour is limited to those 13 and older. Sorry, due to safety concerns, children 12 and under and babies are not permitted.

OR TAKE THE GGG SPECIAL - - BOTH TOURS JUST $20.50!

NO RESERVATIONS NEEDED, JUST SHOW UP AND HAVE A GOOD TIME!
