PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Hi all, has it been hot enough for you? I was unable to attend last Saturdays wine cruise, the heat must have made for one hot time! Just a reminder, we will not have another meeting until Sept. Lots of things going on so here we go;

Only recent event I was able to attend was the Vic Hubbard warehouse tour. Very interesting and the discount that they offer all of us is exceptional. you should have received a discount card in the mail. They told us that they are offering us pricing that should make them competitive with the mail order folks. I use Redline brand synthetic lubricants and they were $1.00 qt. less than what I was paying elsewhere. May be worth a look the next time you need parts. Please see coverage of the other recent events in this newsletter.

Events coming up in June, we have 3 for ya plus a June 7th car show/cruise night at Houlihans restaurant in San Carlos. Holly exit East off 101. Starts at 6 p.m. Jodi Barnes and myself plan to arrive early and save some parking spots. It fills up fast so plan accordingly! There is still room to add people for GGuys on the 3rd & 4th. Let me know please, more people = more fun! Full details on this in the last newsletter and on our website. If you are attending GGuys please review all the info. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you.

Heritage Days also in Pleasanton is the following weekend, the 10th & 11th. Always a fun time. Details and entry form also in last newsletter and on the website. For information and to confirm attendance, contact John Phillips.

If anyone was planning on attending the Pismo show on the 17th & 18th, please let me know and we will try to get you in touch with each other. Yes, it is held over Fathers Day weekend.

Our second club drag race date of the year at Sears Point is on Wednesday June 14th. I hope to be there, work permitting. I have a two day seminar starting that day but rumor has it may be cancelled. If so, I get to go racing!

Continuing with upcoming events, for July, please note full details for our Sat. July 8th Pacifica bowling and cruise date in this newsletter.This event is hosted by Brian Nickless and looks to be a great time.

On July 22nd we have our 1st picnic of the year and it will be held once again at Tilden Park in Berkeley. Lots of info coming at ya on this one. Last years turnout was huge and Skip Hendricks has another fun day planned for us. As always, on all these events, please make it a bit easier on the event chairs by following their instructions. It makes it sooooooooo much easier for them.

Well folks, that takes us through the months of June & July. Lots of good times ahead for Golden Gate Goats. Hope to see as many of you as possible at these club functions. I know everyone gets really busy this time of year. We always try to schedule our dates way in advance for your convenience. SEE YA IN THE FAST LANE!!!!!!!!!

John

P.S. FYI---- Muscle Car nights resume in June, the last Saturday of each month at the Foster Freeze in Dublin. 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. I know a few of you attended last year so I included the information here.

CHERRIES JUBILEE - SEPTEMBER 22-24 MONTEREY & LAGUNA SECA RACEWAY

This event has grown in popularity each year for GGGoaters. Last year over 20 members attended to enjoy the incomparable Monterey area. Everyone who attends says this is one of the best run events that they have ever attended. Friday begins with a poker run that goes through Cannery Row, the 17 mile drive and down Hiway one to Big Sur and back. Returnees can then join the lazy crowd in a show’n’shine at Cannery Row or in Pacific Grove this year. Friday night there is a controlled cruise. Sat. the show shifts to Laguna Seca, with a free ham & pancake breakfast, show’n’shine and parade laps around Laguna Seca Raceway. HOT laps in Porsches can also be purchased. Sat. night there is a dance at the Monterey Convention Center at Fishermans’ Wharf. The Joe Scharino Band provides pretty much non-stop music from the 60s-80s. Sunday, the Show continues or you can sleep in, get a leisurely breakfast and take the slow cruise home. The event application can be viewed and downloaded from our website or you can call 831-759-1836 to have them send you an application. If you are thinking of going, you should be making hotel reservations now. If you ever thought about taking a Friday off to go play, then this is the one for you!
